Make sure your research is thorough while selecting a tour operator. If you are new to this sport then start out with packages that are for lesser distances. The excitement may deter your judgment but beginners should know their limit. Some level of physical fitness does help to enjoy this sport better. Upper-body strength-training rituals like push-ups, bench press and even a bit of shoulder and arm strengthening helps you to overcome the pressures of battling wild currents. The trained muscles will be supple and will not be prone to stiff and soreness the following day. This will make your rafting vacation more enjoyable.

As an avid rafting enthusiast, I have had the opportunity to enjoy rafting in the frigid waters of the Ganges in Rishikesh during their peak season of October. The light rapids of the river Sutlej in Shimla, a tributary of Manasarovar coming through the Himalayan ranges and rafting on the Arkansas River, Denver, Colorado had been an overwhelming experience. This sport should be tried out at least once in this lifetime.
